Starlets chasing a fourth regional crown
Barcelona Rising Starlets are one win away from a Chapa Dimba Central Region final, and they are going there with history on the line. The Starlets face Sportiff Queens of Kirinyaga in the semi-final on 27 August, chasing what Capital Sports reports would be a fourth regional crown in Kenya's most prominent grassroots girls' football competition.
The bid for four
Four regional titles in Chapa Dimba is not a number many sides at this level can aim for. Barcelona Rising Starlets are in that position, and the semi-final against Sportiff Queens of Kirinyaga is the next step. According to Capital Sports, the Starlets are targeting continued dominance in the Central Region, and a place in the final keeps that ambition alive.
Sportiff Queens will not be easy to move past. Playing in Kirinyaga, on familiar ground, they have every reason to believe this is their moment to stop the Starlets' run.
Why Chapa Dimba matters
Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom is not a minor cup. It is one of the most serious grassroots pathways in Kenyan football, designed specifically to surface young talent from county level upward. For girls' football in Kenya, it is one of the few competitions that consistently puts young players in front of coaches who can take them further, including toward the Harambee Starlets setup.
A team that has won the Central Region three times and is pushing for a fourth is not just collecting trophies. The players coming through that environment are the ones who tend to show up later at higher levels.
What comes next
The 27 August semi-final in Kirinyaga is the only fixture confirmed at this stage. A win sets up a Central Region final and, with it, the chance to make that fourth title official.
