Eight minutes in, already inevitable

Gyökeres needed eight minutes. A dart, a finish, a crowd that already knew where this was going. The Swedish striker has that quality — not of someone settling in, but of someone who's been here the whole time. His 8th-minute opener set the tone and the rest of the half just confirmed it.

Saka made it 2-0 on 39', his first goal in eight appearances. He didn't celebrate with any particular theatrics — just pointed at Gyökeres, who'd laid it on. Drought over. Point made.

Three before the break

Gyökeres added his second in the 45th minute — technically the 45+3rd, because of course — and Arsenal went in at half-time three goals to the good. Their first three-goal half-time lead in the league since November 2024 against West Ham. Mikel Arteta didn't look like a man who needed to say much in that dressing room.

The second half was administration. Fulham had nothing to play for except pride, and Arsenal had nothing to prove except patience. The scoreline stayed at 3-0. It didn't need to move.

The Gyökeres number

Twenty-one league goals in a debut Arsenal season. That's the most by any Arsenal debutant this century — clearing Alexis Sánchez's benchmark from 2014/15. In a summer signing, in a title race, in a stadium that was already wound tight before kick-off. Gyökeres has treated the occasion like a mild inconvenience standing between him and the next goal.

Where it leaves them

Six points clear with two matches remaining. Arsenal's opponents in those final two games are now essentially irrelevant unless results go spectacularly wrong in multiple directions at once. The title isn't confirmed yet — but the Emirates crowd knows. The players know. The table knows.
