Where the questions come from

Every answer is a row rather than a recollection. The transfers come from career records, the appearance and goal records from season-by-season data, and the valuations from the market-value series each player carries.

That has one consequence worth knowing before you start: the appearance and goal records run since the 2012/13 season, because that is where the underlying data begins. A question about who has scored most in a league is asking about the last thirteen seasons, not all time. Where a player was signed by a club rather than playing for them, the question says "has been at" and means exactly that.

How it is scored

10 questions, one point each, and a Football IQ between 80 and 160 at the end. "Football IQ" is the ordinary idiom for how well somebody reads the game — it is not a claim to measure anything else.

Get all ten and you are in territory very few reach. Most people land somewhere in the middle, which is what makes the ones you miss worth reading.
