Jordan host Syria looking to halt five-match losing run

Recent form points one way

Jordan's run of defeats stretches back to late May and includes losses to Switzerland, Colombia, Austria, Algeria and Argentina. Syria, by contrast, have been in prolific form, scoring five goals in three of their last four wins before a defeat to Belarus in early June. The market-implied probability gives Jordan a 62.1 per cent chance of victory, with Syria at 14.4 per cent and a draw at 23.5 per cent.

Head-to-head record favours the hosts

The two nations have met five times in recent years, with Jordan winning four of those encounters and losing one. The nine goals scored across those five meetings include a 2-0 Jordan victory in their most recent clash in September 2022. Jordan also won 1-0 in November 2020 and 2-0 in January 2019, either side of a 1-0 defeat in March 2019. Their earlier meeting in March 2014 finished 2-1 to Jordan.
