Liverpool linked with £120m Barcola move

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with Capital FM reporting a fee that could reach £120 million, though no established transfer reporter has yet corroborated the claim. If it goes through, it would rank among the most expensive transfers in Premier League history and mark a significant shift in how Arne Slot's side are willing to operate in the market.

What Capital FM are reporting

According to Capital FM, Liverpool are edging towards an agreement to bring Barcola to Anfield this summer. The reported fee structure, a figure that could rise to £120 million, suggests add-ons are baked in, meaning the guaranteed outlay is likely lower. No corroboration has come from established transfer reporters at this stage, so treat this as a developing story rather than a done deal.

What Barcola would bring

Barcola is 22 and has spent two seasons at PSG after arriving from Lyon. He is a left-sided winger who runs at defenders, carries the ball at pace and has the kind of directness that suits a team built to press and transition quickly. At Parc des Princes under Luis Enrique, he became a genuine first-team fixture, contributing in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League. For Liverpool, who have leaned heavily on Mohamed Salah's output on the right, adding a winger of Barcola's profile on the opposite flank would give Slot a different kind of threat, and a younger one.

What £120m actually means

Spend that kind of money and you are in the company of the Premier League's biggest-ever signings. It would comfortably be Liverpool's record fee, surpassing, if widely reported figures on previous deals are accurate, their previous record outlay. For a club that has historically been disciplined in the market, committing to a nine-figure deal, even one structured around add-ons, would represent a shift in how they are willing to operate. The fact that Barcola is French, 22, and already proven at Champions League level makes the logic easier to follow, even if the number is eye-watering.

What still needs to happen

Capital FM is the only outlet carrying this so far. Until a second source picks it up, or a reporter with a track record on Liverpool business moves it forward, the deal remains unconfirmed. PSG, who are rebuilding their squad following Kylian Mbappé's departure to Real Madrid, would not be giving Barcola up cheaply, and a fee of this size will need to clear several hurdles before anyone is photographed in a red shirt at Anfield.
