Terms and conditions

Last updated 2026-05-12

These Terms govern your use of Flagside.football. They're written to be readable — but they are still a contract. Please read them.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of flagside.football, the associated subdomains, RSS feeds, newsletters, and any other service operated under the Flagside.football brand (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Flagside.football ("Flagside", "we", "us").
By visiting the Service or interacting with any of its features, you confirm that you accept these Terms and the linked Privacy Policy. If you do not accept the Terms, please stop using the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by a banner on the Service. Continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. The Service

Flagside.football is an English-language football news outlet. We monitor publicly available reporting from a curated set of football media sources, summarize stories of interest to our readers, and publish our own short-form articles in our editorial voice. Articles are produced with the assistance of large language models under human-defined editorial guidelines and an automated review process described in our Responsibility statement.
The Service is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature of it.

3. Your use of the Service

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of it.
In particular you agree not to: (a) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, the servers on which it is stored, or any connected database; (b) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or breach any security or authentication measures; (c) use any automated means (including scrapers, robots, or spiders) to access, copy, or index any part of the Service in a way that exceeds normal browsing behavior or imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure; (d) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service; (e) introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, or other malicious or harmful material; or (f) use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person.
We reserve the right to block IP addresses, withdraw access, or take other steps we consider appropriate where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.

4. Intellectual property

All editorial content on the Service — articles, headlines, layout, design, logos, the Flagside wordmark, the typographic system, the color palette, and the originating templates — is owned by Flagside or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.
You may view and print individual articles for personal, non-commercial reference. You may share an article by linking to its canonical URL on flagside.football. You may quote a short extract (under 50 words) for the purposes of comment, criticism, or news reporting, provided that the extract is attributed to "Flagside.football" with a link back to the original article.
You may not, without our prior written permission: (a) reproduce, republish, or redistribute any substantial part of the Service's content; (b) use any of the Service's content in a commercial product, including LLM training datasets, news aggregators, or summarization tools, regardless of whether that use is paywalled, ad-supported, or free; (c) frame, mirror, or scrape the Service into another website or app; or (d) use the Flagside wordmark, logos, or trade dress in any way that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship.

5. Third-party content and links

Articles on the Service routinely cite, quote, and link to material published by other media organizations. Those citations are made under the news-reporting and fair-comment conventions of applicable copyright law and remain the property of their respective owners. Where we display a thumbnail or photograph credited to another source, that image is hot-linked or licensed under that source's terms; the image's rights are reserved by the original copyright holder.
We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party website that links to or from the Service. A link from the Service to another site does not constitute an endorsement of that site or its operator.

6. Accuracy of content

We work to publish accurate, timely, and clearly attributed reporting. Our editorial process is described in our Responsibility statement and includes automated source verification, plagiarism scanning, and a senior-editor review pass before any article auto-publishes.
Despite this, the Service may contain inaccuracies, typographical errors, or omissions. Football is a fast-moving subject and the underlying facts (scorelines, transfer valuations, line-ups, injury statuses) can change after publication. The content on the Service is provided for general information only. It is not advice, and it is not a substitute for the official channels of the clubs, leagues, or governing bodies it covers.
If you spot an error, please contact us at corrections@flagside.football. We aim to respond to credible correction requests within 48 hours and to update the affected article promptly with a transparent correction note.

7. AI-assisted reporting

Articles on the Service are drafted with the assistance of large language models working from briefs that are themselves derived from publicly available source reporting. Every draft is processed by an automated safety scanner and reviewed by a senior-editor model that checks for factual coherence, attribution, and risk before the article is allowed to publish. Articles that fail the automated checks are held back for a human editor to approve, edit, or reject.
We disclose this AI assistance openly. We do not, however, treat AI as a source: every fact in our articles is grounded in identifiable upstream reporting that is cited at the foot of the article. AI is the writing assistant; the responsibility for what is published rests with us.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Flagside makes no warranties or representations of any kind, express or implied, about the operation of the Service or the information, content, materials, or products included on it.
We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) the results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable; or (c) the quality of any content obtained through the Service will meet your expectations.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Flagside, its directors, employees, contractors, and content contributors will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including without limitation damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. User submissions and contact

If you contact us — for example to send a tip, a correction, or feedback — you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, edit, and republish the substance of your message in our reporting, with attribution where you have asked for it and anonymization where you have asked for that. We will not publish your email address or other personal details without your express consent. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle correspondence in more detail.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Flagside harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damages — including reasonable attorneys' fees — arising out of or in connection with: your breach of these Terms; your misuse of the Service; or your infringement of any intellectual-property or other right of any person or entity through the use of the Service.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to all or part of the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. The provisions of these Terms relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law will survive termination.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales. You agree that any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that we retain the right to bring proceedings in any jurisdiction where you are resident or where the cause of action arises.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable for any reason, that provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms will continue in full force and effect.

15. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to legal@flagside.football. Correction requests should go to corrections@flagside.football. Privacy inquiries are handled via privacy@flagside.football and described in the Privacy Policy.
