Pickford joins the 100 clean sheets club

Jordan Pickford has never been the goalkeeper who makes headlines with a signing or a wonder-save every other week, he's the one who's just always there, and now that reliability has a number attached to it: 100 Premier League clean sheets, confirmed by BBC Sport.

Pickford has been Everton's undisputed number one since 2017. Reaching a century of clean sheets in the Premier League isn't the kind of milestone that gets its own open-top bus, but goalkeepers know exactly what it means: it's a record built over hundreds of matches, dozens of back-fours, several managers and at least one relegation scrap survived at Goodison Park and beyond.

A career built on volume, not headlines

What sets Pickford apart isn't a single outrageous save, it's the sheer sample size behind the number. Season after season, he's the name at the top of Everton's teamsheet, rarely rested and rarely dropped. Consistency, not spectacle, is the currency here.

Still doing the extras

The reputation for getting his body in the way of things that shouldn't concern a goalkeeper at all has followed Pickford through his career at Goodison Park. He sweeps up behind a high line as much as he stands on his line, and that willingness to step into danger is part of why the clean sheets have kept coming even in seasons where Everton have been under siege.

Everton's man

This is very much an Everton story first. Pickford has been first-choice through multiple managers and multiple relegation battles, and the clean sheet habit has held regardless of who's picking the team in front of him.

Where this places him

A hundred Premier League clean sheets puts Pickford in genuinely rare company: the list of goalkeepers who've managed it is short, and most of the names on it spent their careers at clubs regularly challenging for titles. Pickford got there largely at Everton, a club that hasn't finished in the top half for most of his time there. That context is the whole point: this isn't a number padded by dominant sides keeping the ball for 90 minutes, it's a number built off the back of individual saves that mattered.
