Jeffrey Schlupp: from Leicester's title heroics to Norwich City

The making of a title winner

Born in Hamburg to Ghanaian parents and raised largely in Milton Keynes, Schlupp came through Leicester City's academy after a brief, eventful loan at Brentford where he scored twice in his first full senior appearance. Back at Leicester, he became a fixture across multiple positions - left-back, midfielder, winger - and was part of the Championship-winning squad of 2013-14 before playing a genuine role in the club's astonishing 2015-16 Premier League triumph, a season in which he was voted the club's Young Player of the Year for the second year running.

Eight years at Selhurst Park

In January 2017, Crystal Palace paid a reported £12 million to bring Schlupp south, and he went on to make well over 200 appearances for the club across eight seasons. His goals often arrived at dramatic moments - a late equaliser off the bench against Aston Villa, a spectacular outside-of-the-boot flick at Old Trafford that was nominated for the Premier League's Goal of the Month, and a stoppage-time strike against Fulham in 2024 that Schlupp himself later called the best goal of his career, with manager Oliver Glasner describing it as an amazing, fantastic finish. He was part of the Palace squad that lifted the FA Cup in 2024-25, closing out his Selhurst Park career with a trophy.

A loan to Celtic and a farewell to Palace

Before that departure was confirmed, Schlupp spent the back end of the 2024-25 season on loan at Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, helping the Glasgow club to the league title that year. At the end of that season, Palace confirmed he would leave the club after eight years on their books.

What Jeffrey Schlupp is doing now

Rather than stepping away from the English game, Schlupp signed a one-year contract with Norwich City in July 2025 ahead of their 2025-26 season - his first move to a Championship club since his early loan days at Brentford. That stint at Carrow Road, however, is not set to be a long one: in April 2026, Norwich announced that Schlupp would leave the club once his contract expired that summer, meaning he is currently seeing out his season with the Canaries before moving on again.

Ghana, family and life beyond the pitch

Alongside his club career, Schlupp represented Ghana at senior level from 2011 to 2021, earning 20 caps, scoring once, and featuring in the squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations - a notable achievement for a player who was born in Germany and had earlier trained with the German under-19s. Away from football, Schlupp became a father to his son Arlo in January 2014, and has spoken about his involvement in property investment, which he intends to pursue full-time once he eventually retires from the game.

For now, though, the pace and versatility that carried him from Leicester's title win to Palace's FA Cup celebrations are still on display each week at Norwich, even as that particular chapter nears its close.
